TV Shows - Tabitha

Tabitha was an American fantasy sitcom that aired during the 1977-1978 season on ABC. It was a spin-off of Bewitched, which had ended its run several years earlier. On Bewitched, Tabitha had been played for 6 seasons by Erin Murphy. The series starred Lisa Hartman as Tabitha Stephens (some sources spell her name "Tabatha"), the daughter of Samantha and Darrin, now a young woman in Los Angeles working in television, while learning how to use and control her witchcraft powers. Helping her along (or hindering her) is her younger brother Adam (David Ankrum) and previously-unmentioned Aunt Minerva (Karen Morrow), while Robert Urich appeared as her love interest.

1 Boned on Day 1. The worst was when Tabitha tries to summon Dr. Bombay, and her "aunt" tells her that "calling Dr. Bombay", as Samantha used to say, doesn't get it done anymore, and you have to shout the obnoxious "HEEEEEEY BOMBAAAAAAYYYYY!" instead. As if the guy wasn't already always complaining over being interrupted scuba diving or whatever. I also remember hearing that the Kravitzes reprised their roles in an episode and Abner looked way to old and sick to be still working in TV. Sounds even more depressing than Dick York's "Fantasy Island" appearance. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on June 28, 2012, 12:00 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Yeah, Lisa Hartman was gorgeous (even though the character was several decades older than she should have been). However, it wasn't worth it with Adam essentially being even more of a wet blanket than Darren at his worst and, really, the dynamics between siblings are FAR different than spouses so rehashing the 'no more witchcraft' rants was useless. Also, even though Elizabeth Montgomery was still living and attractive at this point, Samantha was inexplicably absent as in virtually considered dead and the closest thing to a 'hostile' relative was a witch aunt who seemed to be not even a grade school take on Endora. Yeah, I watched this show but I wish I hadn't because there was only a single genuine laugh in one episode out of this whole series. Here's what it was: a rival for Sam's er. ..Tabitha's weathergirl job gets trapped in her apartment by Tabitha's aunt so she loses her job- and when she tries to use the phone for help, instead of a busy signal, the receiver makes a cuckoo clock sound! I wasn't expecting THAT so I couldn't stop laughing. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on March 1, 2011, 8:01 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
