TV Shows - Metalocalypse

Animated Adult Swim series started in 2006. Death metal quintet Dethklok is the most popular band in the world by levels unseen by even The Beatles. Fans are dedicated to near-suicidal levels, willfully signing "pain waivers" to attend the carelessly violent concerts and following every message in the lyrics and official statements to their full perceived meaning. When a song says to go into the water, millions drown themselves. This unprecedented social power has attracted the scrutiny of The Tribunal, a secret society running the world from underground intent on removing the band before they cause a foreseen apocalypse. All this runs counter to the band members themselves. Completely clueless in even the most basic social situations and fully dedicated to a grim worldview, all they can do well is play metal, party, and negotiate contracts. Episodes usually focus on either their latest publicity events or simple real life issues distorted by their perception of reality.

1 I didn't care about Metalocalypse at first, but I watched a few clips and decided to give it a whirl. It's not bad, but kinda overdoes the "killing innocent bystanders" angle after awhile. I personally hope they clear up some mysteries surrounding the Tribunal (and especially Mr. Selatcia (the guy who often gives the last word regarding what to do) - talk about mysterious). -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on October 14, 2010, 11:04 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Hey Chubby... even if you can't watch the show (it's not for everyone), you should check out the new album. It's fucking brutal! -- Submitted By: (Koskov) on November 14, 2009, 2:30 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 You should seek out an anime called "Detroit Metal City". It's hilarious. It hasn't been released in the US, so you'll have to find the fansubs. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on October 11, 2009, 1:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 As a metal and animation fan, I was the target audience for this "great" show- I could barely manage to watch one episode- just awful. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on October 11, 2009, 4:59 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
