Movie Series - Terminator

Terminator Salvation is an upcoming American science fiction post-apocalyptic war film set for release on May 21, 2009. Directed by McG, it is the fourth Terminator film and stars Christian Bale as John Connor and Sam Worthington as the Terminator Marcus Wright. It also introduces a young version of the first film's hero, Kyle Reese, played by Anton Yelchin. The film, set in 2018, focuses on the war between humanity and Skynet. It abandons the formula of previous entries in the series, which involved Terminators and various other characters traveling through time to protect or kill John Connor. It is both a sequel and prequel to the previous films.

It was supposed to have ended with T2. James Cameron himself has come out and said that with the two movies, everything was there and nothing needed to be explained. Then Terminator 3 came along because I guess some director had it up his ass and thought it needed to repeat the formula again. Then came Salvation trying to be either a prequel or whatever. I agree, it should've just been left to T2. Those other attempts just fell so out of place. When I first heard Arnold as the T-850 say in T3 after being explained by John Connor about blowing up Cyberdyne. He said "It was only post-poned". I could only think then was "yeah...an excuse to make more money." -- Submitted By: () on March 14, 2014, 3:57 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

SilverFang, and not only that, if the future was "prevented", then wouldn't John Connor also pretty much vanish (since he sent his dad back in time, and if the future is prevented, that war against the machine never happens, and therefore, his dad doesn't get sent though time), and Sarah Connor would be back to pretty much being the care free young woman that she was in the first movie, as if nothing ever happened. I would think that, as long as John is still around, that the future is not yet prevented. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on January 1, 2012, 8:28 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I have unfortunely watched the fake terminator movie called "The Terminators" (has the "S" at the end). I have thought thinking it was T4 but this is the worst piece of crap I ever watched. "The Termators" plot was stupid, most the actors don't know how to act, and the ending was plain stupid. The storyline susposely be about a bunch a house robots all of sudden revolts against the humans for no reason and they had to go to space to shut them down. I later find out that "The Terminators" was one of those mock B-movies that jump the bangwagon when T4 was coming out then. So please don't waste your time and money to watch this trash. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on April 19, 2011, 8:01 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
My best Terminator movie is Part 2(That was also the first movie I saw), then the first one, the thrid one was kinda good and the 4th one was alright but not as good as the first two. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on January 28, 2011, 2:11 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
They should have ended the Terminator franchise with the second film. The chip and arm, along with both Terminators, were destroyed, so how could Skynet have still been built? -- Submitted By: (SilverFang) on January 6, 2011, 3:27 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The Terminator was one of few movie series where the sequel was as good or better than the original. 1 and 2 are both amazing 10/10. Rise of the Machines was nowhere near as good, I give it 5/10. I was disappointed by Salvation too, I expected a film to match the originals but it just wasn't in the same league, 7/10. -- Submitted By: (cfc2011) on October 8, 2010, 10:42 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Johnnydough, you didn't miss much. Some robot disguised as a hot supermodel chick goes back to the future, and THIS time she'll kill off John Connor because she's a super deluxe advanced Terminator or something, Ah-nold is the protector (again) and the third flick ends with Connor and some other chick alone in a bunker while the machines start World War 3. I think. Makes you wonder why the supermodel Terminator was even sent back. Also, I totally agree with whoever submitted the reason about Summer Glau looking like a heroin addict. She's easily the least believable ass kicking chick I've ever seen. Does she even weigh 100 pounds? -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on May 3, 2010, 3:04 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The first Terminator was fantastic; suspenseful, well-acted, brilliantly written and you only heard snippets of the future. Arnold was at his best here as the bad guy. The seconds was almost as good; amazing special effects, a stronger Sarah Connor and likable John Connor. You got to like the characters and care for them. It would have been perfect to end there. They didn't, there was a third. The third one was awful, I have not seen all of it but from what I saw it was uninteresting, padded out during action sequences and the characters were far from their likable counterparts (even Arnold was boring). I have not bothered with the fourth. Thus the third was the boning moment and a lesson to be learned is to leave it to the original creators; in this case James Cameron. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on May 2, 2010, 4:42 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
rainbowjane: The second movie actually did a pretty good job of maintaining the integrity of the storyline (i.e., upholding continuity by being consistent with the first movie). It helped that James Cameron directed both T1 and T2. However, the third movie brought in some SERIOUS continuity issues. If I recall correctly, both the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series and the fourth movie (Terminator Salvation) ignored T3, and rightly so. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on March 5, 2010, 9:04 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Somewhat disagree. Yeah, if it stood alone as just that one, it would of been just as good. The 2nd one didn't do a thing to muddle up the story line, it was everything afterwords that did it. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on March 5, 2010, 4:05 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This was a perfectly sufficient movie to stand alone. It didn't need any sequels. Not that the second movie was bad, it was just totally unnecessary and to some degree messes up the integrity of the storyline. -- Submitted By: (rainbowjane) on March 5, 2010, 2:00 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I only think of the first two as being canon. The 3rd movie seemed unnecessary since T2 wrapped things up pretty well and the 4th...well...I prefer to think of the 4th as just a high-budget fan film. That frame of mind lets me get past the complete disregard for everything established by the first two movies and just enjoy seeing robots blowing things up. -- Submitted By: (Maskdt) on January 5, 2010, 10:54 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
In some ways the franchise would have been better leaving it with Terminator 2- Judgement Day, but actually I thought Terminator 3 was an impressive and kick ass film- the only trouble is that it meant there had to be a fourth film to show what the future war would be like, and it was something I'd always wanted to see, but Terminator Salvation was such a disappointment. It was a vacuous, ramshackle, plotless and forgettable film with no real heart to it- the scene where one soldier is told about his brother's death and he couldn't react with any less emotion if he tried sums it up. The first three films and the TV show (which I actually thought was alright) had a raw sense of heart and of making a difference and the human spirit, and had been building up the future John Connor as this mythic, superhuman heroic figure who inspires confidence, respect and hope in everyone. As it happens Terminator Salvation finally showed us this figure, only for the film to not even be interested in him. There was no centre or focus to the film and it ended with a sense of nothing achieved or learned. -- Submitted By: (Tanlee) on October 28, 2009, 4:24 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
They should have ended it with T2. That's when it would have made sense from a chronological standpoint. The other movies and the series just seem tacked on. -- Submitted By: (TheAdamantiumElbow) on September 14, 2009, 7:30 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

Summer Glau is one of those girls that sometimes looks super hot and then from a different angle I have to stare for a minute to try to decide is she is hot or not. She certainly isn't ugly. I do get the 'heroin addict' comment though. Sometimes she looks so bony that she looks malnurished. -- Submitted By: (rick283) on April 8, 2009, 6:20 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This franchise has limped along for too long with a sequel coming out so sporadically. No interest in it anymore. Should have quit after Terminator 2. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 5, 2009, 6:38 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Terminator 2 was the best thus far, but part 3 was passable. The 4th looks freaking awesome! -- Submitted By: (rick283) on March 24, 2009, 10:02 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
