Movie Series - Toy Story

Toy Story was the very first animated feature film to use only computer generated imagery. It was released in 1995 and created by Pixar. Toy Story was about Woody, a cowboy doll, whose world is turned upside down when Buzz, a space-age action figure, replaces him as Andy's favorite toy. A sequel, Toy Story 2, was released in 1999. In it, Woody is stolen by a toy collector who intends to make him part of a complete collection. Woody learns that he is part of a TV series known as "Woody's Roundup", which starred a cowgirl named Jesse, a faithful steed named Bullseye, and a prospector known as Stinky Pete. When Woody learns that he is destined for a Japanese Museum, he must choose between being admired forever as part of a display, or the love of a boy which may wear off when he becomes an adult. A third movie, Toy Story 3, is set for release in 2010.

I watched the 3rd movie recently. I agree: it's well written, it completes the series nicely, and it gives closure. As long as there is no Toy Story 4 in the works, I conclude Toy Story has never boned. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 31, 2011, 11:25 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
OK, I've seen all versions (including the 3rd one on Sunday) and I have to say that it's never boned. However; I think it may be a good time to wrap up the series because I don't know how it can keep going without becoming redundant. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on July 3, 2010, 9:48 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Not yet, and I am actually optimistic for the third. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on May 13, 2010, 2:33 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I hate to say anything to tarnish such a beloved film, but the plot of Toy Story 1 is virtually identical to Jim Henson's 1986 TV special "A Christmas Toy". -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on April 1, 2010, 11:53 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Toy Story, along with its sequel, are still superior to many, many CGI-animated shows today. The storytelling as well as the voice-acting is superb and the comedy is very sharp. Toy Story 2 is a rare gem of a superior sequel. I await with some trepidation for the third installment but when I heard the re-done plot, I was decidedly more excited. -- Submitted By: (SamuraiPanda201) on August 9, 2009, 9:13 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
So Dinosaur was. Sorry for the mixup. In light of this new evidence, I hereby assert that there are no bad Pixar movies to date. And I also acknowledge that I forgot to put The Incredibles on the list, so I'm putting them there now. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 14, 2009, 10:47 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
One of the rare instances where a sequel is as good as the first movie. I have high hopes for Toy Story 3- Pixar hasn't let me down yet! (FYI, Dinosaur was made by Disney, not Pixar.) -- Submitted By: (GranApp) on June 11, 2009, 8:56 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Perfect post, Chubby. Toy Story is the most dazzling and elaborately cut diamond in the world of CGI movies. Nowadays, CGI is done to death. People go, "Ugh! Not ANOTHER CGI Movie." But when it comes to Pixar, how the people's heads turn! In fact, the only movie I can think of that wasn't very good was Dinosaur. But A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E...great movies. I wonder how the next movie, Up, will be. And, of course, how the 3rd Toy Story will be. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 20, 2009, 11:28 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's the grand-daddy of all of the CGI cartoons, and when you get down to it, TOY STORY is still the best of the lot. Most of the CGI kids cartoons are just garbage, but these two films (and soon to be a third) are heads and tails above the rest. Even the original from 1995 is better than most animated movies made years later. Thanks Buzz, Woody and Pixar- these are true classics, not a whiff of fish around these parts!......... TO INFINITY AND BEYOND........... -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on May 20, 2009, 5:57 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
