1 They boned in the mid-1980s when they came out with "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "That Was Yesterday". The latter must be the answer to the question "when were you guys any good?" Anybody familiar with Foreigner's tunes from the 70s and early-80s (Urgent) knows their ballads were few and far between. They were mainly guitar-oriented hard rock. I guess "Waiting For a Girl Like You" started it, but by the time they did their mid-1980s crappola, there was no guitar track anywhere to be heard. So many cool bands did stuff in the 1980s with much anticipation preceeding it, only to bitterly disappoint their fans. Foreigner was one example with their follow up to "4". -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 23, 2012, 11:34 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Up there with Journey and REO Speedwagon as one of the definitive bands of the AOR 80s rock era, before hair metal took over. I like the song Urgent from them, and Waiting for a Girl Like You might actually be my favorite rock ballad. It's not over the top like most tend to be and the song does a good job at establishing a romantic atmosphere with the keyboards and synthesizers. Probably boned when they kept going as a band even though Ian McDonald and Lou Gramm left. Mick, maybe it's time just to call it quits. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on July 13, 2012, 10:42 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Foreigner, I want to know what love is was a great song. I also agree with Stephanie, I've been waiting, was a powerful ballad, can't say if they ever boned so I'll vote never. -- Submitted By: (fletch000) on February 11, 2010, 9:51 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 How can there be no comments on Foreigner?! "Waiting For A Girl Like You" is one of the most beautiful ballads done by an arena rock band, ever! Aw! It reminds me of my first boyfriend....*sigh*. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on December 4, 2009, 6:54 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
