Well, it's finally happened. "Ice Gold Gold", a program about prospectors in Greenland THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ANIMALS!!! -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on August 30, 2013, 12:00 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Mermaids?! That channel REALLY has surrendered to the sirens' song of brainless shows! What happened to the awesome photo safaris of. .. actual animals? -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on July 20, 2012, 8:11 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
No to mention Mockumentaries about Mermaids. I thought this was supposed to be educational TV? Did I, at some point, wake up in an alternate reality where the Special Ed. kids took over the world? -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on July 19, 2012, 2:58 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I was so looking forward to getting this channel (it used to be great). About 50% of the shows are now different reality shows about hillbillies "catchin' critters". The idiotic haunted house one is on all the time, too. Sometimes they have Animal Cops reruns. That seems to be the entirety of their programming. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on July 18, 2012, 10:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
You'd think they'd show some wholesome wildlife documentaries and National Geographic nature specials, but no, they show idiotic reality shows that aren't even animal related. Haunted houses? Really? -- Submitted By: (JayD) on July 17, 2012, 7:11 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
OK. Sci-fi Channel (I REFUSE to call them syfy!) has wrestling, and MTV has everything BUT music. Animal Planet's been doing something stupider than Bigfoot: Haunted houses. Please tell me what those have to do with the animal kingdom! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on July 17, 2012, 3:14 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I used to love this channel in its early years, but when I check it out now there's usually no animals, just reality shows. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on May 30, 2012, 11:50 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
According to Hobbes of Calvin and Hobbes, "You can take the tiger out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the tiger". It is impossible to tame a wild animal. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 29, 2010, 6:30 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Ani3al Planet is slowly redeeming itself in my book, due to the new show "Fatal Attractions"! This show is about freaks who own exotic, deadly animals because they obviously have something to prove. The dude who owned all these big-ass monitor lizards and then got eaten by them is an intriguing episode, to say the least! (Psychologists say it's a psychosis). Frankly, anyone this effin' crazy deserves to get eaten, mauled, poisoned, etc. Then, IF they survive, they should be arrested for putting other people in danger; let alone, putting non-domesticated animals in a position to be eventually put down for eating, or mauling a human! -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on March 29, 2010, 11:53 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Point understood Robert. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on September 20, 2009, 9:41 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I bummed out when they kept showing that 'Animal Cops' show over and over again. The first episode seeing those horribly neglected/abused animals was quite shocking for me and no matter where the city was, the result was the same- animals in horrific shape due to the monsters who were supposed to care for them. Yes, I'm completely outraged when things like that happen but having endless episodes of showing the same was downright depressing instead of educational and I had to quit watching! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 19, 2009, 10:07 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
MCS, you're right about nature being violent, but my beef is that Ani3al Planet cleaned up their lineup in the name of "extreme" marketing. When PBS has nature shows, they too feature predaceous animals having a meal, but it's not like they ruined their lineup in the name of "extreme" marketing. They didn't drop Britcoms, family shows, etc. to make room for extreme shows. And I hope they don't. Oh, GOD I really hope they don't! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on September 18, 2009, 11:40 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
While I'm not so sure about Whale Wars (they could be worse), this channel is boning mostly because of the reality shows like this and Jockeys. As far as a predator having its meal, that is nature and nature is cruel and violent. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on September 17, 2009, 3:57 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Right on the mark, SVN. I hate how they cleaned their lineup in favor of the "extreme" shows. They did it to appeal to an adult audience...well, I'm in the age group they're targeting, and even I think their new marketing plan sucks. Maybe instead of replacing the elephant and globe logo with that crappy one (It's not ANIMAL PLANET anymore, now it's ANI3AL PLANET!), they should have a shark skeleton with the words "Animal Planet" resting on a pile of coleslaw. Accented with a slice of lemon and a sprig of parsley. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on September 5, 2009, 8:21 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Simply put: it became "The Monster Channel". No longer are we watching dog shows and family-friendly nature documentaries! Now we are seeing predators having their meal, and even worse, real-life stories on human beings being mutated from some disease-carrying insect or animal! -- Submitted By: (SVN) on September 4, 2009, 1:18 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
