Weather Channel, The Comments (You must Login to Comment)

it appears they air more reality shows than weather alerts..if you want to check up on severe weather around the country, i'd check elsewhere, because you'd probably get 'Prospectors' instead -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on April 10, 2014, 9:44 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Weather Channel bitching and moaning about DirecTV not going for their demands, DirecTV dropping them, and going to a different weather source. I tell Weather Channel to PISS OFF!!! A channel that is pretty much nothing but shows and such, very little weather. If I want weather forecasts, I'll go online to find that out, and get MORE information than they give me, not wait until god knows when if I decide to watch it on TV -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on February 3, 2014, 3:45 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The Weather Channel just bought Wunderground.com. Seems like they are gonna become the WWE of weather sources: aquire the competition before they become a threat. -- Submitted By: (tvfan) on July 11, 2012, 11:25 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I do not understand the point of this channel, nor do I understand why people watch it for hours on end. If you want a local forecast, go to your local news station, or the internet. Am I missing something? -- Submitted By: () on June 15, 2012, 5:02 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
You tune into the Weather Channel expecting to see what the forecast is in your area. Unfortunately there's a Hurricane 3,000 Miles offshore that's at least a week from making landfall ANYWHERE. So that's all you hear about. Your Local Weather? FUGGADABOUDIT! Also the number of commercials they show is BEYOND INSANITY! -- Submitted By: (Regulus) on May 31, 2012, 7:20 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
It became The History Channel for weather. How about the weather NOW? -- Submitted By: (Googalslosh) on October 31, 2011, 12:35 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Another channel airing stuff which does not belong. Sci-Fi (excuse me, Syfy) has wrestling, Cartoon Network has live-action, you'd need a time machine to see a music video on MTV. It's like comedians casting themselves as serious actors. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on October 20, 2011, 1:20 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I was surfing through yesterday and they had an hour-long progam on FOOTBALL FANS! Not football itself, the players, coaches. ..or hello, how weather may affect the games but football fans. I tried watching for a few minutes but it seemed mostly focussed on wacky tailgaters and then it got to someone who actually attended every single game wearing a full Scottish tartan kilt. Even ten years ago, this would at most have been a two-minute filler story at the end of a sports segment on the local news show during a very slow news day. I have nothing against football or fans but IMO this was about as appealing as watching grass grow and what did this have to with WEATHER?! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 20, 2011, 10:16 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
That Primed for Excitement block they introduced is just dumb, since with that they introduced more non-weather programming. What's ironic is that it had to be pre-empted the week it was supposed to first air because of severe winter weather. TWC also severely overhyped From the Edge with Peter Lik. I mean, it's just some Crocodile Dundee wannabe taking pictures. Did they really need to debut it in Times Square? The only good thing I can say is that they've learned from their April 2010 fiasco. They've been pre-empting their non-weather shows quite a bit for severe weather. -- Submitted By: (MacFan95) on June 1, 2011, 9:38 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I hate when I want to watch the weather, but get shows instead. I watch a another channel which has current weather and weather forecasts, and they air shows on it. If I wanted to watch a show, I'd put it on a show channel. I want to see the weather, dammit! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 14, 2010, 1:53 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Talking about global warming does not make a channel political. For those of you who did not pass junior high science, global warming and/or climate change (whatever you want to call it) are aspects of WEATHER. The deal with things like warmer winters. Winter has to do with weather. This is not politics. The fact that they have documentaries on it about anything does make this channel bone, I will agree with that. They should just tell the weather. That is why I am grateful for their website. You don't have to wait for all their commercials and other crap to see what the weather will be in your area. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on November 15, 2009, 12:20 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The Weather Channel boned the fish when they went down the "TV show" path circa 2000. Their early shows were "Atmospheres" and "Storm Stories". As time went on, it got worse and worse; more episodes and newer shows were showing up, and less emphasis was being placed on the weather! Around 2007 or so, Landmark (the old parent company) wanted to sell off TWC to NBC Universal probably because "it became too political", always talking about global warming, etc. I even remember on the old Scottish Site that "TWC was going to [go back to normal]!" I was excited at first, but was then none too excited a few months later! The Weather Channel is now "The News Channel"!!!!! Most of their stories are like watching the regular news, there are forecasts for all events (including Michael Jackson's memorial in LA!), and even a documentary on Death Valley had a "scary" content warning! What the heck! When Al Roker came to "The News Channel", he went from being the best meteorologist on TV to the worst meteorologist on TV!!!!! And thank goodness I haven't witnessed the movies being played on "The News and Movie Channel"!!!!! The only weather-related thing from NBC Uni now worth watching is KXAS 5-2, my over-the-air radar channel! That, and weather and traffic on 5-1. (Those youngens who live in the KXAS viewing area will probably know what I mean!!!!!) Anyways, I don't care for "The News and Movie Channel" anymore! -- Submitted By: (SVN) on November 14, 2009, 7:25 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The network boned when NBC bought it and decided to give Al Roker his own show and they recently showed "The Perfect Storm". But truth be told, TWC has sucked ever since thet start making stuff like "Storm Stories" "It Could Happen Tomorrow" and "When Weather Changed History" -- Submitted By: (tvfan) on October 31, 2009, 1:47 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
When is this channel ever political? -- Submitted By: (MCS) on October 18, 2009, 12:22 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
As someone who lives in the south, I just don't see it. In the increasingly rare instances they do actually discuss the weather they seem to concentrate on all areas equally to me. And if the south has more tornadoes and severe weather than any other part of the nation then it SHOULD be more discussed. The Weather Channel has BTF for the same reason as almost every other network--they decided to concentrate on stupid reality shows to the near exclusion of their original reason for existing. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on July 19, 2009, 10:32 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Boned when all they could talk about was the South. There can be tornadoes in downtown Los Angeles and they will dwell on a typical spring rain storm in Atlanta or Nashville. It also boned when they started showing commercials every eight minutes and all those stupid series. Just tell us the damn weather! -- Submitted By: (MCS) on May 8, 2009, 11:01 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
