TV Shows - Avatar: The Last Airbender

The series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating the Fire Lord and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation. The series was created and produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who served as executive producers along with Aaron Ehasz. Avatar is set in an Asian-influenced world[2] of martial arts and elemental manipulation. The show drew on elements from East Asian, South Asian, and Western culture, making it a mixture of what were previously traditionally separate categories of anime and US domestic cartoons.

1 Easily the best American animated show with an overall story arc (having a clear beginning, middle and end, as opposed to the concept of endless episodic installments). Okay, it was animated in Korea, but the idea was conceieved and written by Americans. In any case, it's the finest representation that good stories, characters, and action need not be live-action to be good or taken seriously. Case in point: Why did Avatar's creators think that any any live-action adaptation (or rather, live-action/CGI hybrid) could be better what they'd already achieved? As animators, why would they of all people believe that a live-action Avatar would be the ultimate achievement expression of their idea? Anyway, the Shyamalan Disaster certainly sure opened their eyes about that.(Although, their later "Legend of Korra" managed to suck without any help from bad Hollywood directors). -- Submitted By: (SimonWilliams) on November 27, 2014, 1:33 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

4 I thought Avatar was awesome. There were some episodes on there that weren't really needed though. Especially Season 3, which had a lot of filler episodes that wouldn't have done anything to mess up the main story line had they been taken out. -- Submitted By: (McT) on May 9, 2009, 7:54 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
