@JayD: The ironic part about there being a remix is that, from the lyrics, "Royals," much like Macklemore's "Thrift Shop," criticizes the kind of luxurious lifestyles that pop stars and mainstream rappers tend to sing about. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 1, 2013, 1:33 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
These days if you become a big recording star, you are pretty much obligated to collaborate with hip hoppers and rappers. For instance, Lordes has a big #1 hit with "Royals" and now I found out that awful rapper Rick Ross has remixed the song with him rapping on it. Why would you take a perfectly good song and ruin it like that? Looks like Rick Ross is taking a song that is already number one and putting his name on it as a featured artist giving him an instant #1 song. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on October 30, 2013, 6:41 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
You can't even call a rap artist's concert, a concert. When it really consists of several guys just wandering about on a stage just running their mouths in a rhythmic tone. And some guy running the synthesizers in the back. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on October 8, 2013, 7:30 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Hip hop boned for the same reasons all other genres of music have. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on July 17, 2012, 11:56 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Boned the minute it glorified all the things people where rebelling against. Plus it went mainstream, thanks MTV for fucking up everything. -- Submitted By: (Mr.Zimpy) on January 2, 2011, 5:56 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The worst part is, all these so called "gangstaz" who constantly told us about "keepin' it real" turned out to be the most blatant sellouts in the history of the entertainment industry. Which says a lot. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on July 4, 2010, 12:13 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Virtually all hip hop songs have samples in them. There have been so many samples that even samples are being sampled. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on July 2, 2010, 6:30 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It got too politicized. -- Submitted By: (timdub70x) on February 11, 2010, 1:50 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Problem is "Hip Hop" and "Music" were used in the same sentence. -- Submitted By: (BrewMaster) on July 11, 2009, 10:19 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Hip-hop/rap jumped the shark when it became too club-friendly. Even in the gangsta rap era, when the industry became saturated with violence, many of the songs still had some sort of message to say about life in the slums. Then the Dirty South (crunk, snap music) took over, and rap turned into cookie-cutter pop music and club bangers. -- Submitted By: (KevinR1990) on July 10, 2009, 10:04 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
AMEN BRUTHA!!! And to think, back in the 70s and 80s people thought "satanic" rock music was going to cause the destruction of America..."Hip hop" is ten times worse than rock ever dreamed of being!!! It only started being called "hip hop" about a decade ago because "gangsta rap" sounded too threatening while "hip hop" sounds like some innocent form of dancing. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 16, 2009, 5:55 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
This was supposed to fizzle out like a bad fart 15 years ago. Hip Hop isn't a form of music, it's a cultural disease. -- Submitted By: (BrianBuck) on June 16, 2009, 10:52 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
