It's not that it was unbelievable that there would be gay ppl in Lanford. It's just that how likely is it that damn near everyone Roseanne knew would ALL be gay?? Especially Bev. Highly unlikely. They even had a Halloween episode about FRED being gay (it turned out to be a joke, but still). If the writers were allowed to make Fred gay for real, they probably would have done that too. It was getting out of control. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:30 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Mark's character was turned from a bad boy into a stereotypical sitcom doofus. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:26 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The show went downhill somewhere around the 7th season. But one of the worst episodes was Roseanne's dream "Rosemary's Baby"? I think it was a Halloween episode. She dreams she is at a party, Darlene has a baby, but it is the devil. Does anyone else remember this one??? Maybe I was having a bad dream!!! -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:25 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Yo, can someone explain what happened to Jackie? She was fun and flirty in the first few years, and then little by little started dressing like a 50 year old school marm and just became absolutely bonkers. They never broached the subject at all....very odd. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:24 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Sarah Chalke is good on Scrubs, but she played the role of Becky on "Roseanne" sooooo wrong. Becky was the brain of the family and when they changed actresses she became really ditzy and cheerful. The Connors aren't a cheerful family...which is what made them great. Sarah Chalke needed to take that happy go lucky shit over to Full House. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The Roseambo episode is by far the worst episode of the series run. And what the hell was up with that episode where Jackie is at the wrestling match and Leon & Scott are having a party with Bev & Ruta Lee? Ive always loved Martin Mull, but I think that episode was absolutely terrible. Not as bad as Roseambo, but that isn't saying much. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
As other people have already said, other characters start doing things totally at odds with their previous selves. Characters' personalities changing for the plot, rather than the plot being made for the characters. A bad move for any storytelling, unless it's "Doctor Who". -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 5:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The show started to focus too much on David (who became more wimpy every year). Then, Jackie's personality totally changed and she became a paranoid weirdo. After that, ALL THE CHARACTERS went from realistic, multi-dimensional characters into one-dimensioanl stereotypes. The show was brilliant for a full six seasons though, I definitely give credit to that. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 4:49 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Somewhere during Season 7. Everything that made the show what it was began to disappear and it became this weird, totally different show that nobody could relate to anymore. Dan being absent from a lot of the episodes definitely didn't help either. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 6, 2014, 4:45 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Jackie gets divorced from Fred and he disappears, Roseanne has a huge baby, Darlene gets married, Darlene has a baby, Roseanne's mom is gay, the whole Leon and Scott gay wedding/marriage, the episode with Dan's mother trying to kill him, the Gilligan's island spoof, DJ beats up David, Mark turns into the village idiot when he and Becky come back, replacing Becky instead of keeping her written out of the show, allowing the original Becky to come back for like 6 random episodes in season 8, etc. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 3, 2014, 10:41 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

I didn't like how they made Mark into an idiot. And Jackie in general had become a psycho. Suddenly, EVERYONE moved into the damn house. I was TIRED of seeing David sitting around on the couch all the time. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 3, 2014, 10:25 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm gay and even I can't figure out how Lanford had that many homosexuals. I respect Roseanne for trying to make a statement but she overdid it. Sorry. But I do give her points for trying. Not a lot of shows made the effort like she did at that time but after awhile the question went from "who IS gay in Lanford" to "who ISN'T gay in Lanford." -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 3, 2014, 10:19 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
It seems like for the most part at least, all the good shows have to jump the shark at some point (unless they end things before it happens). But Roseanne was a great show for about 6 solid seasons. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 3, 2014, 10:17 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I agree with the poster who made the remark: "I won't touch on the last season. For any true fan of the show, the 9th season simply did not exist. We've blocked it out." -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 3, 2014, 10:12 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Who didn't have a baby on the show at the end of their run? I remember this show was so damn good until they made all of them have babies at once it seemed. I'm surprised as hell that DJ didn't knock some chick up and have his baby. This definitely made Roseanne jump the shark. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 1, 2014, 4:42 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Out of nowhere, there were a dozen plus characters crowding the screen. The characters all changed their personalities. They became less distinct. My first "uh oh" might have occurred after all the grown children returned and the boyfriend and the mother and sister and everyone else for all practical purposes lived under that one roof, and Dan threw up his hands and broadly yelled, a la Jackie Gleason, why couldn't he get some peace and quiet around here?! From there we got exaggerated situations rather than believable character interaction. No attention to the unique personalities. The final season doesn't even seem like it should seriously be regarded as part of the Roseanne show. Lottery, brushes with royalty...fish out of water a la the Beverly Hillbillies? -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 1, 2014, 4:39 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Dude, I have never seen such an amazing show go to bullshit this way before in my life. In fact, I think it is THE ONLY SHOW to ever have died such a disasterous death in that fashion. It didn't just die, it died like nothing has ever died before. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 1, 2014, 4:36 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Switching Beckys was actually a good idea, since Lecy Goranson was irritating to begin with. At least the replacement was something for the eyes. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 1, 2014, 4:34 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The show was still hilarious during 1993-94 (6th season). The sixth season had some great episodes (smoking pot, DJ behind closed doors, the kiss, discovering David in chicago, etc). Then, Season 7 started off OK, although it was a bit strained, but halfway through, Jackie became completely annoying and things just fell flat. But you've gotta admit, it was a hilarious show for seven years. It was when the original Becky came back that this show had tanked. It just wasn't funny anymore, and everything appeared staged and phony. It was straining to squeeze out any laughter it could get. And of course, once of the most unfunny episodes of the whole show was the Disney world episode. But that 9th season, man, that just takes the cake. They couldn't just let it burn out, they HAD to kill it all the way. -- Submitted By: (JTScomments) on September 1, 2014, 4:27 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
