Malcolm in the Middle Comments (You must Login to Comment)

The Way It Should Have Ended: Frances and Piama move to Utah and join a polygamist cult. They live unhappily with 4 sister-wives and a pig named Lois. There is a lot of jealousy. Reese becomes famous after winning back-to-back Iron Chef competitions but still has no friends. He is addicted to online sex chat rooms where he uses the nickname DarthDong. He appears on cam bare ass naked except for a a Darth Vader helmet and performs perverted stunts with small appliances and occasionally fruit. Reese is very happy with his life. Malcolm flunks out of Harvard and becomes an alcoholic private detective. He is hired by Hal to investigate Dewey, who has become very eccentric and weird. Malcolm follows Dewey to an old warehouse and discovers the severed heads of 6 people floating in jars. He recognizes one as belonging to Jamie, his youngest brother who mysteriously disappeared when he was 6 years old. Dewey gets the drop on him and Malcolm becomes head number 7 in the collection. Dewey is very happy with his life and teaches music at his old middle school. He has a cat named Mittens The Kitten. -- Submitted By: () on November 18, 2014, 5:07 pm - (6 votes) - Login to Vote
Best quote EVER about MITM: "Malcolm should have been run over by a bus in season 5." I mean how hateful, snotty and repulsive does a character have to get before they send him to sitcom heaven? -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on November 12, 2014, 8:11 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I lost interest when they turned Reese into a total moron. The first few seasons he was very clever and as smart as Malcolm but in a different way. He was a total genius in the kitchen and they should have let him pursue his dream of becoming a chef. Instead they lowered his IQ by about 50 points and gave him demeaning jobs and finally made him into the janitor at his own school, cleaning up the pee and puke of his former classmates. Malcolm should have been run over by a bus in season 5. -- Submitted By: (spacer) on October 9, 2014, 8:25 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
I think it stayed on the air for too long like a lot of people said. It was funny and cute when Malcolm and Reese acted like idiots when they were 11 and 12 but not so much when they were 18 and 19. The character of Malcolm became a complete waste of skin and the biggest a-hole on TV. I actually heard a story on NPR and they actually referred to Malcolm in the Middle as "Bryan Cranston's sit-com before Breaking Bad. LOL! Take that, Frankie Muniz! By the Way Hal and Lois were the best part parts of the show. -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on June 7, 2014, 10:32 am - (10 votes) - Login to Vote
I too loved this show and stuck with it 'til the end. I didn't really care for Malcolm much but I loved Reese! Funny and good looking, he was the star of the show in my mind. I often wised he was my own brother, I would have been a lot nicer to him than Malcolm and Dewey were, they treated him like dirt, no wonder he didn't like them very much. -- Submitted By: (sharp143) on October 4, 2013, 12:47 pm - (8 votes) - Login to Vote
Linwood Boomer created a brilliant show and it totally rocked for the first two seasons. It was very inventive, funny, weird, and never used a laugh track. It got very bad in its final two seasons and pretty stale well before that. The result was a pathetic mess and VERY unlikable characters. Malcolm went from funny, charming and sweet to mean, hateful and arrogant. Reese went from a clever, prank playing, high spirited boy to an obnoxious, morose idiot that you wanted to beat with a bat. Dewey went from sweet and weird to creepy and weird, Lois went from controlling but effective mom to a looney-toons psycho parent and Hal went from proud dad to a broken, blubbering mess. And then they committed the cardinal sin of boning, they had a new baby! OMG! I recently caught some of the early shows on IFC (of all palces) and was reminded how brilliant it was in the beginning. They should have pulled the plag after season two and let it take its place among the TV legends. Instead, it muddled on through 5 more pianful seasons and will be remembered as nothing more than a sitcom that hung around too long and lost its way. not to mention its audience. -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on April 4, 2013, 2:30 pm - (15 votes) - Login to Vote

With the comings and goings of so many recurring characters, like all of Malcolm's friends other than Stevie being gone the last season (sure sign of a budget cut), it could have boned lots of times, but oddly it never did. Episodes were always funny. Gotta vote never boned....and I'm mad as hell at FX for taking this off my morning reruns and replacing it with Home Confinement, I mean Improvement. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on June 15, 2012, 9:44 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Totally original, well-written, pop-you-in-the-eye comedy that was obviously (and thankfully) written for men and boys to have a few belly laffs... I can't believe that no one notices it followed NFL Football on Sunday nights for a long time, basically building on it's desired audience. Never ever boned and still rocks in re-runs. -- Submitted By: (schellgator) on July 1, 2011, 11:48 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Francis goed to Alaska? "Goed" ? He "went" and so did the show at that point. Too much Francis and the CO -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on January 20, 2011, 12:46 am - (-4 votes) - Login to Vote
This keep me laughing from the beginning to the end. I like it when shows like this don't take itself so seriously, and it never fall for "A very special" epusodes. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on January 10, 2011, 9:50 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I have just finished watching the entire series and I got to say, overall good to the end. Malcolm did become a bit antagonistic, however he was a teenager and that was a realistic character change which helped in some ways to the show. The baby did not ruin the show as much as it could have considering. They decided to leave it at a good point, a landmark in the main character's life which was done with and not arbitrarily in the middle of something else. Also, I have to the say show was far ahead of its time in many ways; a sitcom with no laugh-track, higher prominence in single camera, characters are less one-note, more down-beat in many ways as well as more over-the-top etc, there are many more examples. Long story short = good show. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on August 14, 2010, 4:55 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
While it didn't bone completely, MitM started smelling when Malcom turned into the new Reese. They could have just re-titled the show Dewey in the Middle at that point. Jamie didn't help the cause much, either, but his inclusion isn't as bad as Malcolm's personality change. -- Submitted By: (ElBlocko) on May 5, 2010, 3:46 pm - (-4 votes) - Login to Vote
Yeah, really, why doesn't the father rally the boys and revolt against her? Honestly, is she the only one with family jewels? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 28, 2010, 5:53 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote

This show boned the first note of the opening theme song of the premiere episode. There was nothing that WASN'T annoying about this piece of crap of a show. The theme song was childish, the mother was a shrew, the dad and all other characters (except Malcolm) were idiots, Malcolm was a smartass & I absolutely could not relate to ANY of the show's characters. This show was BEYOND BAD! Worst TV show of all time, BAR NONE!!! -- Submitted By: (jimdcarter) on February 19, 2010, 7:16 pm - (6 votes) - Login to Vote
Never cared much for the show, and that bitch of a mother... what Dol said, If I was in that family's situation, an "unfortunate accident" would be happening. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 14, 2009, 7:14 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
The show was good as long as Stevie wasn't on it. I thought he was going to die every time I saw him on there. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on December 13, 2009, 10:02 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
I tried to like this show but Malcolm was too much of a whiner and that annoying slow talking kid in the wheelchair got on my nerves too. -- Submitted By: (TheAdamantiumElbow) on September 20, 2009, 10:58 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Day 1 BTF!! Psycho mom, whiny kids (especially Malcolm), dad missing a man card, annoying "whoosh" sound FX when changing scenes ... I could go on and on. It's not a good sign when the most memorable line in the series is a RECURRING -- not even main! -- character saying, via a speech synthesizer, "This thing sucks at sarcasm." -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on July 6, 2009, 9:41 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
